Description:
From the person who rescued Mandi & Madeline:
Mandi & Madeline were brought to me on the evening of Monday August 17th when they were just a few hours old by an old man in a broken down pickup.  He said that the mama cat had them out in a field and abandon them.  They were wet and cold.  He said that the last litter his cat had all died.  There were three of them.  The little black one did not thrive and died in less than a week.  I tried all I knew to do.  She was fed, warm and comfortable and she was loved.  That is more than many kitties know in this life.

The old man told me that he wanted the "rumpy" back (Madeline).  He said that he would pay me for my time and trouble.  There isn't enough money in the world to pay me for my time and trouble I thought, not from someone who did not spay his cat and let this happen twice.

The same day I got them in, I picked up "Jezzi, who I had pulled from the Vidor Pound (high kill pound south of here).  She was scheduled to be euthanized.  She had just weaned a litter of kittens.  I insisted that she nurse the kittens.  She wasn't happy about it, growled at me and switched her tail.  For the first week I went home several times a day to my bathroom where I kept them and held Jezzie down while the kittens nursed.  I set the alarm clock and did it thru the night as well ( I must be crazy).  After a week or so she was as attached to kittens as I and took over full time.

The kittens are Now with MCRA in Austin, waiting for their forever homes.

Please note that we do NOT adopt outside Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, or Louisiana. Please check Petfinder for cats closer to your location. We require all potential adopters to be approved prior to setting up an appointment to visit with the cat(s). We are not a shelter and all cats are fostered in private homes
